Paintings

Thanks for stopping by my painting website. I am a San Diego, California-based artist working in water-based media and pastel on paper.

I've had a life-long love of painting, though I haven't always had much time to devote to it. Retirement has provided plenty of opportunities to indulge. It's an activity I enjoy immensely, and for the last several years, I have painted almost every evening.

I find using various types of inks and pastels to be a stress-free, relaxing, and fairly fast source of gratification. Call them sketches if you like. However, each one presents challenges that I like to embrace and solve.

Since these are entirely abstract — no hints of content or meaning — they are about color and composition. As a photographer using black and white film for many years, creating images in color has been a joyful change. (If photography interests you, my work may be seen by clicking here.)
